"All in all on our honeymoon we stayed at 5 different hotels and lodges, and
not one of them could hold a candle to Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. From the
minute we arrived to the minute we left we felt pampered and taken care of,
and yet service was always discreet. Claude, our guide, was fantastic - he
was knowledgable, courteous, friendly and enthusiastic, and managed to
somehow take drives slowly and in a relaxed fashion, and yet have us back at
the lodge exactly when he said he would - amazing! We saw great game with
Claude spotting a leopard in a tree!
Donald our butler was hilarious, and genuinely made us feel that he wanted
us to have a good time - he even came and found us when he saw a Narina
Trogon because he knew I wanted to see one. The food was fantastic - varied,
fresh, plentiful without being sickly so that we really appreciated the
meals. My husband comes from a very 'foodie' family, and even he could not
criticise the food at all.
We also were presented with a different frozen cocktail every night when we
arrived from dinner and divine snacks etc in the lounge. The lodge itself is
beautifully designed, and the beds, linen and amenities were amazing. They
didn't miss a beat - we had a picnic breakfast, a walk with a Maasai guard
that ended in sundowners on the lake shore, and a romantic turndown of a
huge bubble bath and wine waiting for us on our return. They even packed us
a really good picnic lunch on the day we left which was much appreciated
when we saw what was on offer at the airport!! Frances is a truly
outstanding hotelier."
